There are many complex challenges affecting health care delivery in the United States.  Issues include access to care, caring for the uninsured, reduction and management of escalating costs, providing health insurance for children, prescription drugs, health information networks, health care disparities, treating the elderly, biomedical research, and the education and training of health and medical professionals -- to name a few.  Two of the biggest health issues facing the nation have to do with providing access to care for those who have no health insurance – the uninsured and Americans’ growing inability to pay their medical bills. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 46.6 million people in the United States are uninsured.  A number which is more than the aggregate population of 24 states, including the District of Columbia.  Furthermore, in terms of escalating medical costs, approximately 57 million Americans were in families having difficulty paying medical bills – an increase of 13 million people since 2003. Research, information, and policy papers addressing these issues and more are readily available on the web. Our goal at anitaestell.com is to make sure that you have the most up-to-date information on this very complex issue. In our limited space, we will give you what you need to stay informed and direct you to other resources that will ensure your most effective engagement.
